Thing 2

I've just a had a little look round some of the other CPD23 blogs, so I've got a bit of a feel of the sorts of things people are writing about, and also an insight into what's coming in the other 'things'.

Looking forward to seeing what's next!

Librarian's blog, date 20th June. I've never written a blog before...

So....why am I taking part in this 23 Things for Professional Development course? Lots of reasons. Like everyone else taking part in the course I am always interested in CPD, and what better way to do it than from the comfort of my own desk?

I've been working in the library world for ten years now, and I don't think I've ever stopped learning. In fact, I think I can safely say that I learn something new every day, whether it's from a professional perspective, gathering new information regarding a customer query (did you know Jimmy Savile used to be a wrestler?! He lost all 35 of his fights apparently), or how to put a new roll in the hand towel dispenser...

I love the work that I do, and I recognise the value of the service we provide, on so many different levels. The more I can do to in terms of professional development, the more of an impact that will have on service delivery and our users. I'm not sure what the course really has in store for me, but I am quite excited to find out.

I must confess that I am brand new to blogging. I have obviously come across it many times before in day to day activities and on courses, but it is not something that I have been inclined to take up. Until now. This course has given me the opportunity to jump into the world of blogging, to get to grips with the techy side of it all, but most importantly I'm hoping it will be a powerful source of information and networking for me professionally.

I think that's ok for my first blog isn't it? Should I say goodbye or something?
